Compound butters are right up my ally – simple, easy, and delicious. Also, if you’re looking for a way to sneak some herbs into your kids breakfast, this is a lovely way to do that.
Our Spring Herb Compound Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup (8oz) butter, softened
- 1/4 cup chopped basil, chives, and parsley, fresh
- 1 spring onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- 1. To a food processor add 1 cup of softened butter, one chopped spring onion, and 1/4 cup of chopped fresh herbs (we enjoy basil, chives, and parsley)
- 2. Blend with the chopping blade on high for 1 minute. Stopping once to scrape down the sides.
- 3. Enjoy!
I like to use a 8 oz block of Kerrygold butter. But if you just have the traditional sticks you can use two sticks of your favorite butter.
There is nothing real precise here. But I think it tastes best when the herbs equal out to about 1/4 cup or maybe a tiny bit more.
It’s so easy it’s silly.
I love serving this on top of toast with a fried egg and feta cheese on top. That is probably my favorite meal at the moment. It’s actually a daily go-to meal right now since I am just swamped with working, gardening, homeschooling, etc. It’s so easy, and this compound butter make it extra special and sneaks those herbs in without the kids noticing.
It’s great on breakfast toast, dinner bread, or on top of a delicious grilled steak… It’s all wonderful. I hope you give this a try, it’s really so easy it’s silly.
Thanks for taking time out of your day to hang out here!
