If you are interested into dipping your toe into oils or are wanting to gift essential oils to a loved one these are the top five oils that I think every single person could get some use of for a generally low price point.
Most of us are on a tight budget and don’t have an extra $300-$800 to drop on an expensive essential oil kit. I’m not saying it’s not worth it, but if you don’t have the money – you just don’t have the money.
However, that doesn’t mean you can start improving your families health with quality essential oils. If you’re on a tight budget, like me, I recommend just starting with 1-2 oils and slowly building up your collection and only buying the ones that you use regularly.
I also recommend not buying the “cheap” oils that you can get from your average store. Those say 100% essential oil but if you dig a little more you will find out that they are mainly a cheap carrier oil with a bit of fragrance. Please don’t waste you money….like I did.
1. Lemon
Lemon is where it all started for me. It’s very inexpensive oil because it easy easy to source. It smells fantastic and strong, while having a ton of uses. This oil is an absolute staple for me, and I always have it on hand. It never gets put away and sits on my window sill at all times.
A few uses:
- Homemade cleaning products
- Diffused for air purification
- Polishing spray
- On dryer balls
- In water or in recipes
- Cleansing when taking internally
2. Lavender
Lavender is another inexpensive oil that has a great relaxing scent. This one is a great one to have on hand if you are planning on making diy products.
A few uses:
- Diffused for a relaxing aroma
- Homemade body products
- On laundry dryer balls
3. Tea Tree
Tea tree is an excellent cleaning agent and naturally antibacterial. If you are looking into switching from the harsh store bought cleaners to homemade diy cleaners, tea tree will make them super effective.
A few uses:
- DIY cleaning products
- Facial cleanser or spot treatment
- Great for wound care
- Fights mold and fungus
4. Eucalyptus or Breathe
This one is a must. Colds are absolutely no fun, especially when you have a house full of kids, and this really helps. This is the first essential oil that my husband actually requested when he got sick.
A few uses:
- I make a roller bottle of this and put it on our chest, down the spine, and on the bottoms of our feet to help open up air ways.
- Create a Eucalyptus steam room by running a super hot shower, closing the bathroom door, and adding a few drops of eucalyptus to the bottom of the shower.
5. OnGuard
I really like to have on hand (especially during cold and flu season) a good immune boosting oil. Bonus points for the oil smelling great.
A few uses:
- DIY Hand soap
- DIY Cleaner
- Great for immune support
- Supports the bodies natural antioxidant defenses
- Supports a healthy respiratory function
I hope this is helpful to you. These are the oils that I will immediately replace once I run out. They can be all used in tons of ways to help remove toxins from the home and boost your families health.
