Are you ready for summer??!
We aren’t. Not even a little. We are currently in the process of moving and right now we’re in an all hands on deck mode. However, before summer hits I want to share this super easy sunscreen that we love.
My daughter has eczema pretty bad on her arms and legs. So my goal was to make a sunscreen that not only protected us from UV rays but also moisturized her skin at the same time. This works like a charm.
Homemade All-Natural Moisturizing Sunscreen
Notes
- This sunscreen does has a lower SPF. But that doesn't bother us because we want our kids to still get the benefits of vitamin D.
- A little bit goes a long way.
- It stays on well in the water. But you may need to reapply after you dry off with a towel.
- Non-nano zinc oxide is a powdered mineral that sits on top of your skin. It is a natural, safe, and effective barrier against UV rays.
- I highly recommend testing on a small part of your body with sun exposure, before spending all day in the direct sunlight.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup of coconut oil
- 1/4 cup of shea butter
- 1/4 cup bees wax
- 2 heaping tbsp of non-nano zinc oxide
Instructions
- 1. In a double broiler melt the coconut oil, shea butter, and bees wax.
- 2. Let it cool slightly for 2-3 minutes. Then stir in the non-nano zinc oxide.
- 3. Add the mixture to a wide mouth mason jar. You're good to go!
Isn’t that insanely easy? It takes about 8 minutes max, and you can use all of those natural ingredients in 1,000 different ways in your home.
I hope you think about giving this recipe a try this summer. If you do, there are links below and in the post for all of the products you will need.
Thank-you for taking time out of your day to hang out here!
