Homemade Immune Boosting Elderberry Gummies

Advertisements

Elderberry syrup is something that I love making when cold and flu season hit, but my kids get really sick of really quickly.

They go from loving it to crying at the sight of the jar being pull out of the fridge, in about one month…and that’s not even with us taking it every day.

My new solution attempt to this problem, gummies! And honestly it’s going pretty well so far. If anything, I’ve just added making homemade gummies to the list of things we now have to make on a regular basis.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup    Elderberry Syrup – vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and calcium
1/2 cup    Cranberry Juice – vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K1, and vitamin B6
1/4 cup    Water
2-3 tbsp  Raw Local Honey – good source of antioxidants
1/4 cup     Grass Fed Gelatin – good source of amino acids and contains anti inflammatory properties

You may like to use the gummy bear molds. But if you don’t have them a 9×12 baking dish will work just fine.

1. Heat up the elderberry syrup, cranberry (or orange) juice, water, and honey, until the honey is fully melted.

2. Whisk in 1/4 cup of gelatin until it is completely dissolved.

3. Immediately add the mixture into the gummy bear molds or a 9×12 baking dish. Then place in the fridge to cool and set up.

4. Pop out of the molds and give 1-2 as you would elderberry syrup.

These are incredibly easy to make and perfect for those kids that aren’t quite on board with the taste of elderberry syrup. I think I’ll keep slowly trying to increase the amount of elderberry syrup and decrease the amount of juice. But I’m still very happy with the health benefits in these.

Thank-you so much for taking time out of your day to hang out here.
