How to Dry Oranges | DIY Dried Orange Decor

Advertisements

I am in love with simple and natural Christmas decor. There isn’t much that screams old fashioned vintage Christmas than dried oranges. They are a simple homemade way to add a pop of color and festivity into your farmhouse home this Fall/Christmas season.

This process is so simple and you can use them in a couple of ways…
  • Christmas tree ornaments
  • Wreath & garland decor
  • Spruce up presents by tying one of these onto the box
  • Add to potpourri
The best part about these is that they look more complicated or expensive than they actually are.

How to dry oranges:

1. Slice oranges into 1/4 inch thick slices. (or as thin as you can get them)
2. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
3. Bake in the oven at the lowest temperature your oven will allow for 5-7 hours. Flipping the oranges over occasionally.
4. Once the oranges are fully dried in the oven, let them sit over night.

How to make dried orange ornaments:

1. Create a hook using either twine, ribbon, or fabric.
2. Hot glue the ends of your hook together at the bottom.
3. Then hot glue the ends of the hook to the backside of the dried orange.
4. Get to decorating!

It’s silly how easy this process is.

It’s actually so simple you can involve your kids! Or if your kids are old enough to handle hot glue and an oven you can give them this entire very simple project.

You could also add a bow to the top of the oranges to make them stand out more. But I prefer this simple ornament style since the oranges are already so colorful. I hope you enjoyed this ultra easy Christmas DIY.

Thank-you so much for taking time out of your day to hang out here!
